| SIGNALMENT:
14 year old male neutered Chihuahua.
HISTORY:
The dog experienced an episode of acute respiratory distress four days
prior to referral. At the time he was seen at the local emergency clinic
and diagnosed with a mass in the right side of the lung field. (Figure
1 and Figure 2)
TREATMENT:
Options for diagnoses were discussed and the owner elected to have a
thoractotomy done. Right 5th intercostal thoracotomy was done. An intermuscular
lipoma was encountered in the surgical approach and can be appreciated
on the ventrodorsal radiographic projection. (Figure 2)
Upon entering the chest, a mass involving the entire right middle lung
lobe was encountered and complete lobectomy done. Sections of the resected
tissue were submitted for histopathology. |
